Last Tuesday was our last meeting for 2014 and as usual in December we celebrated another year of friendship quilts with a special dinner where we all contribute our speciality to provide a delicious feast. This year we have designed and made another 11 quilts which will be finished sometime in the future, except for Bronwen who has already finished her red Triangles.
So what exactly did we accomplish in 2014?
February: Pam- Broken Glass
March: Elizabeth- Dresses
April: Sandra- Fractured nine patch
May: Sue- little pink and brown stars. This is not a very great photo. We laid the blocks out on Sue’s patterned rug but you can get the idea. She will make several more blocks before putting it together.
June: Jenny- Sue’s Stars. We all loved this quilt that Sue made from a kit. The 8 point stars are joined with a zig zag sashing.
So Jenny made her own VERY LOUD version of Sue’s quilt.
July: Bronwen chose to make a quilt that up till now we had only made as an ‘I Spy’ for children. I’ve lost count of the number of these that I’ve seen and each one is quite spectacular. Bronwen made hers using bright colourful florals. It’s a great design, very easy and fun to make. It comes from this book-
August: Annette- Courthouse Steps
September: Judith- Retro Hexagons
October: Annette- Scrap String
November: Sandra, like Bronwen chose the Triangle Quilt for her grandson Ben.
December: Pam’s Ohio Star. What a stunning quilt this will be. Pam used a big grey and white spot for the background of the strong yellow stars.
We’ll begin the new year with our first meeting in February at Jenny’s place.
