I’m sorry for the long silence – I don’t think I posted anything in October, but that doesn’t mean there was nothing happening on the quilting scene. I think I missed two of our friendship nights and that makes it hard to catch up.

But this week, on Melbourne Cup day, the first Tuesday of November, we met to hand over Bronwen’s blocks and for Elizabeth to give out our ‘homework’ for the next month.

For Bronwen we made hexagon flowers in pale colours.

She has a lot of work ahead to surround each flower with more white hexagons but she has already started and it will look wonderful.

Last month it was my turn and I also requested a variation on hexagons.

Like Bronwen I have to make lots more and I have to admit that I have become slightly obsessed by them and have put aside everything else I was working on to make lots and lots of these brightly coloured hexagons on a variety of white-on-white backgrounds. I’ve begun to join them together now and hope to have the top finished before long.

It’s a while since we were at Sandra’s place but when we were there she showed us a couple of friendship quilts from several years back.

This one is another version of the great children’s quilt that so many of us have made.

And this one is even older.

It’s good to be back and I’ll be touch again soon with lots of other news from the last few months.
